Welcome to PreProfessional Advising!

      As a part of University College advising, we are committed to helping students navigate the higher education system at the University of Utah and beyond.  Our specialty as pre-professional advisors is to assist students interested in these six fields: medicine (both allopathic and osteopathic), dentistry, veterinary medicine, optometry, podiatry, and chiropractic.  Our services include advising and application aids such as mock interviews, editing personal statements, and sending letters of recommendation.  On this site you will find answers to a variety of questions you may have about prerequisite courses, extracurricular experiences, and the application process.  You are of course welcome to phone us to set up an appointment to discuss your educational path in detail, or by email to have us answer a quick question.  We look forward to helping you achieve your goals!

Our office is generally open from 8:30 am - 5 pm, Monday thru Friday. 

Our "lunch hour" is from 1-2 pm.

Our office will be open throughout Spring Break. 

All appointments should be made by calling 801-581-5744.  Available appointment times vary from day to day, so it's important to have your schedule IN HAND when you call.

PPA enforces the “10 minute rule” observed by University College advisors in other locations. Please try to arrive just a few minutes early, so you can be checked in without impacting your time with the advisor. Students who are more than 9 minutes late for their appointments will have to be rescheduled, so that students with appointments following theirs are not negatively impacted. We apologize for the inconvenience.
